Setting the Standard for Emergency Medical Response in the backcountry, and beyond…
Join Our Top Skilled Disaster Relief EMT’s and Paramedic’s
Who is “Timberline Medics”?
… More than just another private medical contract company…
We strongly believe there are a lack of standards in place when it comes to medical contractors and contracts for disaster relief. We are hoping to raise the bar and set a better example!
We hire people who we would trust to take care of our own fire members, friends & family.
We believe investing in our employees is how we start to decrease injuries and spark change…
Disasters will not quit, and neither will we!
To us, that investment comes in the form of training, mentorship, and support of our teammates.
It’s not enough to do just an RT-130 refresher and a arduous “pack test” every year…
It’s paramount to be proficient in navigation & orientation skills so we can better communicate to other resources during when emergency strikes.
Understanding various disasters in order to anticipate the needs and safety of ourselves and others
We NEED to be experts when it comes to prolonged patient care in an austere environment.
These are just to name a few…
Gone are the days where you finish your refresher training, grab a pack, hop in your truck and spend 2 weeks relaxing in the shade at your assigned incident. We can do better!
Our goal is that you enjoy your work, while still being a high-functioning and an integrated asset to the entire response team.

Meet the owner, Heather!
Hey! I’m Heather, and Timberline is my company!
I started my career in Alaska working for a 911 fire department as an EMT for several years before eventually getting my Paramedic and Fire/ Emergency Services degrees at UAA. I absolutely fell in love with emergency medicine, and even more so with the austere “backcountry” aspect of medicine. I worked on many wildland fires both in Alaska, and out. I have since moved permanently to the “Lower 48” to pursue my career further, and focusing more on wilderness medicine. However, I quickly noticed a common trend when I was working on federal assignments…
Most new line medics were eager to learn, to grow, help and to become “pro’s”. The problem was, many of them were not well set up for success, for a variety of reasons. It all came to a head while I was on an assignment one day, realizing there was a brand new, inexperienced person who was alone, on the furthest edge of the map, with minimal support, and the only medical resource around for miles. This was not ok! How could this even be allowed to happen?? That’s when I first knew something needed to change; and I feel like I am a person who can help with that change!
Since then, I have found myself running emergency type scenarios in the downtime, and teaching skills to rookies like how to use Avenza maps, basic radio operations, what an efficiently packed medical bag consisted of, and even some basic blister care. I have helped host training sessions back at camp that included topics such as preparing a landing zone for helicopters, packaging patients into a stokes basket, patient extrication, and Medical incident reports (occasionally in Spanish too!)
After a few years of doing this, and being frustrated at the lack of, or rather, the inconsistency of standards and “training” amongst medical entities, I thought why not start my own company?
So I did.
The goal is simple - To raise the bar for medical care within disaster relief deployments by creating an organization that puts its employees, education, and training at the forefront. This is in hopes that it will help increase confidence and success in people, and decrease frustration and injuries in already unpredictable, ever-changing environment.
I hope to unify the emergency response teams like never before, continue to set high standards, and keep helping the medical units remain an integral part of every incident.
If this resonates within you, please consider joining my small but mighty team!
Cheers!
